Hee-Sook Nelson is responsible for customer satisfaction, governmental program compliance, and the training and development of Gelson’s 2,700 store level employees in her capacity as Vice President, Team Development and Public Affairs.
Working her way through the University of California, Santa Barbara, Hee-Sook earned a Bachelor’s Degree and started her grocery industry career with Vons as a courtesy clerk, then checker. She joined Gelson’s in 1989, advancing through Store Management to Store Operations while leading special projects, specifically identifying best practices and areas of opportunity for the CEO.
Hee-Sook is a graduate of the Food Industry Management Program at the University of Southern California and serves on the Executive Board of Directors for the California Grocers Association. Recently Hee-Sook was also appointed to the Executive Board of Directors for the Kenley Jansen Foundation. Jansen pitches for the Los Angeles Dodgers. The foundation supports seriously and chronically ill children.
